Michael

My name is Michael Cardwell and I am a photographer currently living in Memphis, Tennessee. Over the last few years, photography has become somewhat of an obsession for me.  Despite continuously searching for ways to improve my technique, I still have much to learn.  I studied marketing throughout my college career at The University of Memphis, where I eventually continued on to obtain my MBA.  My fascination in the business background provided me close insight to photography at a commercial level, more specifically the impact photography has in direct relation to a product’s success.Photography has always played an important role in my life, and I firmly believe documenting life through imagery captures memories and emotion more accurately than anything else.   Once the memories have all faded away, the correct picture in their place can immortalize its subject forever.  Throughout my high-school career, I made sure I had a camera with me whenever possible, and experimented snapping pictures of everything I saw.  As a Senior, I remember having a wall of memories that told a story of my family and friends from a truly unique perspective. After discovering the complexities of exposures, lighting, and various lens applications, I took my photography to the next level and purchased my Canon 5D-MK2 DSLR.  Having the right tools for the job allowed to become immersed in photography even further.  With countless different techniques available, it became easier to understand how the personality of the photographer can be represented in the final image.

This website is home of the work that I’ve done, and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I do.  My favorite part about taking pictures is getting to interact with people I photograph, learning their story, and trying to capture it in a single shot.

The correct picture in any situation can have an unparalleled impact, and it’s my job to find it.
